What this calculator does
A cubic centimetre (cc) and a millilitre (mL) measure exactly the same volume: 1 cc = 1 mL, always, with no conversion factor needed. So 400cc to ml is simply 400 mL, and the same goes for 100cc to ml, 200cc to ml or any other amount. The two names exist side by side because different fields adopted different habits: medicine and engine sizes tend to say "cc", while cooking, pharmacy dosing and most everyday liquid measures say "mL".
That equivalence follows straight from how both units are defined. A millilitre is one thousandth of a litre, and a cubic centimetre is the volume of a cube one centimetre on each side, which also happens to be one thousandth of a litre. They are not approximately equal or equal under certain conditions, they are the same unit under two different names, so this calculator is mostly here to convert cc to ml liquid amounts into other everyday measures like fluid ounces, teaspoons and tablespoons in one step.
The formula
Since 1 cc equals 1 mL exactly, the millilitre figure is just the cc figure restated. The other rows convert that same volume into US fluid ounces, teaspoons and tablespoons using their standard mL equivalents, so a single cc entry can be read off in whichever unit is actually printed on a measuring device.
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| cc | Cubic centimetre: the volume of a 1 cm × 1 cm × 1 cm cube, common in medicine and engine displacement. |
| mL | Millilitre: one thousandth of a litre, the everyday metric volume unit for liquids. |
| Exact equivalence | 1 cc = 1 mL by definition, unlike unit pairs that depend on the substance being measured. |
The inputs explained
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Volume (cc) | The volume in cubic centimetres, from an engine spec sheet, a syringe barrel or a recipe using "cc". |
When to use it
Reading a medical dose or syringe
Syringes and some medication labels are marked in cc while dosing instructions are written in mL, or the other way round. Knowing the two are identical removes any need to convert between them at all.
Comparing engine sizes
Engine displacement is almost always quoted in cc, but some spec sheets or conversion charts use mL or litres instead; this confirms the cc figure translates straight across with no scaling.
Converting a recipe or lab measurement
A recipe or lab procedure written in cc can be measured out with any mL-marked container, jug or pipette without doing any maths first.

Every figure in the tables below is produced by this page’s own calculator at build time, so the numbers and the tool always agree. Select any row to load that scenario.
What do common cc amounts convert to in mL and other measures?
A range of cc amounts people commonly search for, shown alongside their fluid ounce and tablespoon equivalents.
| Volume | Volume in millilitres | In US fluid ounces | In tablespoons |

| 100 cc | 100.00 mL | 3.381 fl oz | 6.76 tbsp |
| 120 cc | 120.00 mL | 4.058 fl oz | 8.12 tbsp |
| 200 cc | 200.00 mL | 6.763 fl oz | 13.53 tbsp |
| 400 cc | 400.00 mL | 13.526 fl oz | 27.05 tbsp |
| 500 cc | 500.00 mL | 16.907 fl oz | 33.81 tbsp |
Questions
Is 400cc to ml really just 400?
Yes. 400 cc converts to exactly 400 mL, with no rounding or scaling involved, because a cubic centimetre and a millilitre are the same volume by definition.
Why do doctors and engine specs use cc instead of mL?
It is a matter of convention rather than measurement: medicine, syringe manufacturing and automotive engineering have historically used "cc", while cooking, pharmacy labels and most metric liquid measures use "mL". Both describe the identical volume.
Is cc to mL the same kind of conversion as grams to mL?
No. Grams to millilitres depends on the density of whatever is being measured, since a gram of water and a gram of oil take up different volumes. Cc to mL has no such dependency: it is a fixed 1:1 unit equivalence regardless of what is inside.
How do I convert cc to fluid ounces?
Divide the cc figure by 29.5735, since that many millilitres make one US fluid ounce, and cc and mL are interchangeable in that calculation.
For volume conversions that do depend on the substance, such as converting a mass to a volume, see the grams to mL calculator. For everyday liquid unit conversions more broadly, see the tablespoons to grams calculator.
