Minutes From Now Calculator

Adds a chosen number of hours and minutes to the current time to show what time it will be.

Published 27 August 2026

What this calculator does

This calculator answers a small but common question: what time will it be 15 mins from now, or however many minutes or hours you actually need. Type in a number of minutes, and hours if you want to combine the two, and it adds that duration to the current time on your device.

It is the mirror image of a countdown. Rather than telling you how long until a fixed target time, it starts from right now and moves forward, which is the more natural way to think about things like "call me back in 20 minutes" or "the oven needs another 45 minutes".

The formula

FormulaResult time = current time + (hours × 60 + minutes) minutes

It reads the current time from your device, converts the hours and minutes you entered into a single total in minutes, and adds that to now. The result is shown as a 12-hour clock time, a 24-hour clock time, and the full date, so you can tell at a glance whether the addition pushes past midnight into the next day.

TermMeaning
Current timeThe time on the device running the calculator at the moment you use it.
Total minutes addedHours converted to minutes, plus the minutes entered, combined into one figure.
Crosses into a new dayWhether the resulting time falls on a different calendar date to right now.

The inputs explained

FieldWhat to enter
Minutes from now (min)How many minutes to add. Defaults to 15, but any whole or fractional number of minutes works.
Hours from now (optional) (hr)Optional extra hours to add on top of the minutes, useful for longer waits like "3 hours 15 minutes from now".

When to use it

A short reminder

Someone asks you to call back in 15 minutes. Instead of doing the mental arithmetic against the clock, enter 15 and read off the exact time to expect the call.

Timing something in the kitchen

A recipe needs another 40 minutes in the oven starting now. Adding 40 minutes to the current time gives a concrete time to check on it, rather than tracking elapsed time on a separate timer.

Planning a departure

You need to leave in 2 hours 30 minutes. Entering 2 hours and 30 minutes shows the exact clock time you should be walking out the door.

Worked examples

Every figure in the tables below is produced by this page’s own calculator at build time, so the numbers and the tool always agree. Select any row to load that scenario.

What time common minute additions land on

A spread of minute values added to right now, holding the extra hours at zero.

Starting from the current time
Minutes addedTime it will be24-hour time

10 min9:19 am09:19
15 min9:24 am09:24

45 min9:54 am09:54
60 min10:09 am10:09
90 min10:39 am10:39
Longer minute additions are more likely to roll over the hour, and past 60 minutes, into a different hour of the day entirely.

What time common hour additions land on

Additions of 12 hours or more are the ones most likely to cross into the following calendar day, shown in the date column.

Questions

Does this use my time zone?

Yes. It reads the current time and date directly from the device you are using the calculator on, so the result matches your local clock, not a fixed time zone.

Can I add both hours and minutes at once?

Yes, the two inputs are combined into a single total before being added to the current time, so "2 hours 15 minutes from now" is entered as 2 in the hours field and 15 in the minutes field.

What if the result falls on tomorrow?

The calculator shows the full date alongside the time, and flags whether the result crosses into a new day, so a late-night addition that rolls past midnight is still clear.

Can I use this for a time in the past instead?

This tool only adds time forward. To count down to or from a fixed target date and time instead, use the time until calculator.

To count down to a specific target date and time instead of adding a duration to now, see the time until calculator. To add several separate durations together, see the add time calculator.
